Abstract
The horizontal tank is widely used in most industrial processes, for example as an accumulator, a surge tank, or a mixer tank. The agitation is also implemented to accelerate the heat and mass transfer processes. This achieved by introducing energy into the vessel with the aid of rotating impeller and converting this energy into hydrodynamic motion. Therefore, a detailed understanding of the hydrodynamicsof these vessels (velocity fields, turbulence, etc.) is essential for the optimum design of stirred horizontal tank (SHT).
